BAGS of COLOUR
Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November 2024 Australian Textile Arts and Surface Design Association (ATASDA) NSW, Epping Creative Centre, Dence Park, Epping NSW A fabulous 2 day workshop exploring felting, embellishing and bag construction. Enjoy a day’s play with wet and dry prefelts, designing with colour wheel challenges in mind. Discover the fun of hand embroidery at the prefelt stage before collaging and refining the fully felted design with machine embroidery (day 1). Learn how to turn that unique fabric into lined zipped pouches and bags using a simple and adaptable pattern (day 2). In doing so, discover the range of battings and notions used in bag making and how they can best be combined with wet felted material. Anticipate that participants will produce one or two zipped bags (eg shoulder bag and boxy pouch) depending on size and decoration. Workshop assumes basic wet felting knowledge and requires a working sewing machine with basic and zipper feet. The use of a free machine embroidery foot is optional. Participants will be supplied with a list of material and tool requirements, although specific bag making notions eg. batting, zips and pulls can be purchased in the workshop. For booking see ATASDA website |
